Coatings, Finishes, Design & CAD Capabilities

In addition to our wire products and custom wire fabrication services, we also provide a range of coating and finishing services that we either provide ourselves, through one of our affiliated companies in the ERJ group, or through one of our trusted subcontractors. Furthermore, while don’t specialise in design, we do have computer-aided design (CAD) capabilities on site.

The range of services that we can provide includes:

Powder Coatings

Powder metal coatings are a type of coating material used to protect and enhance the surface of various metals and other substrates. These coatings are made from finely powdered metal or metal alloy materials that are applied to surfaces through a process known as powder coating.

Powder coatings provide the following benefits:

  • Durability: Powder coating provides a durable finish that resists chipping, scratching, and fading, ensuring long-lasting protection for metal surfaces.
  • Versatility: With a wide range of colours and finishes available, powder coating offers endless possibilities for customisation to match any design or branding requirements.
  • Environmental Friendliness: Powder coating is an environmentally friendly option, as it emits no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during application and requires minimal cleanup.
  • Cost Efficiency: Powder coating is a cost-effective solution compared to other finishing methods, as it requires less labour and material while providing superior coverage and durability.
  • Quick Turnaround: Powder coating’s curing process is relatively fast, allowing for quicker production turnaround times compared to traditional wet painting methods.

Electropolishing

Electropolishing is a metal finishing process that uses an electrochemical solution to polish, passivate, and deburr metal parts. It’s often described as the reverse of electroplating. Instead of adding a layer of material to a surface, as in electroplating, electropolishing removes a thin layer of metal, improving the surface finish and overall aesthetics of the metal part.

Electropolishing provides the following benefits:

  • Improved Surface Finish: Electropolishing can smooth out microscopic peaks and valleys on the metal’s surface, resulting in a brighter, mirror-like finish.
  • Increased Corrosion Resistance: By removing surface imperfections where corrosion could start, electropolishing enhances the corrosion resistance of stainless steel and other metals.
  • Deburring: The process can effectively remove burrs (tiny bits of metal left on the edges of parts after machining), producing cleaner, safer parts.
  • Cleaning: Electropolishing also cleans surfaces, removing contaminants that can hinder performance or lead to corrosion.
  • Passivation: While it inherently provides some level of passivation due to the removal of free iron from the surface, parts are often passivated in a separate step after electropolishing to further enhance corrosion resistance.

Design & CAD (Computer-Aided Design)

While design is not our specialty, we do provide some design services to assist in the custom metal fabrication process. We also offer computer-aided design services for ultimate precision and accuracy.
